Robert is a Board-Certified Lawyer with 35 years of experience and has been with Davis Law Firm since 2023. Following law school, Robert worked at the respected insurance defense law firm, Thornton, Summers, Biechlin, Dunham & Brown. After 3 ½ years, he set out to form his own law firm. He and childhood friend Clifford C. Herberg, Jr. formed Rush & Herberg in 1994. They wanted a firm that was dedicated to representing people, not corporate entities. They devoted their practice to representing individuals harmed by the negligence of others, fighting the insurance industry. Over the years, Robert has resolved numerous six-figure and seven-figure recoveries on behalf of victims of negligence. After 29 years, the firm was closed, and Robert proudly joined the team at Davis Law Firm.
Robert has handled litigation in courts across Texas, and has argued appellate matters before the Fourth Court of Appeals, the Thirteenth Court of Appeals and has briefed matters to the Texas Supreme Court. Additionally, he is also licensed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and has been admitted pro hac vice for litigation in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the District of Arizona, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Robert is an army-brat and has been a resident of San Antonio since 1967, when his family was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston. He married Elizabeth Barrera in 1988 and they have two children. Robert and Elizabeth raised their children to be adventurous and to this day everyone in their family enjoys camping and hiking in State and National Parks, among other outdoor activities. Robert has served on several Boards and Councils for the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and other philanthropic endeavors. When not working, Robert loves cooking and is an avid wanna-be-chef.
